Our mission

The UK solar and battery storage market is growing fast, but it's also full of noise. Lead generation platforms that sell your details to dozens of companies. Comparison sites that rank results by who pays the most. Installers promising savings that aren't realistic for your roof or usage.
We built My Energy Expert to do this properly. Independent matching based on capability and location, not sponsorship. Installers vetted for current MCS certification, HIES or RECC consumer-code membership, insurance and trading history before they ever receive a lead. Honest cost and savings data so you know what to expect before you speak to anyone.
Our commission model enforces this. Because we only earn when an MCS certificate is issued for a completed installation, we have no financial reason to recommend an installer who won't actually do a good job. Every bad installation is one we don't earn from.

Quality is non-negotiable
Every installer we work with holds a current MCS certificate, the government-recognised quality standard for UK renewable energy installations. We verify this before any installer receives a single lead from us.

Most comparison platforms in the UK still treat battery storage as an add-on to solar. We built for both from day one. For many homes, a battery alone or a combined system is the right answer, and we'll tell you that even if a solar-only quote would earn us more.

We tell you exactly how we make money (a referral fee: the same percentage from every installer, triggered by an MCS certificate, only on completed installations), what data we share with installers, and how many companies will contact you. No surprises.
Our business model
Why the MCS certificate is everything
In the UK, every MCS-certified renewable energy installation requires the installer to issue a unique MCS certificate number. This certificate is a legal document: it's what allows homeowners to register for the Smart Export Guarantee, access certain grants, and prove the quality of their installation.
We use this certificate as the trigger for our referral fee. When an installer provides us with the MCS certificate number for a lead we sent them, we calculate our fee (the same fixed percentage for every installer, agreed in advance) and raise an invoice. Before that certificate is issued, we earn nothing.
This model makes it structurally impossible for us to profit from bad installations. A rushed job, a cowboy installer, a homeowner who gets pressured into an oversized system: none of these produce MCS certificates. We never earn from them. We are therefore motivated to only work with installers who produce quality, certified work.
